Introduction & Objectives
This assignment evaluates students’ academic writing skills. It also evaluates the student’s ability to research information to support the arguments proposed in the blog, to cite the sources of information and also to provide a list of references. Additionally, it allows for increased feelings of ownership of knowledge and learning that supports realistic and authentic ways to participate in learning.
Tasks are as follows:
Assignment type: Photo Blog
Topic: Food, Culture & Architecture
Total marks: 30 marks.
Places of interest: Choose any locations of your choice. The locations can be from any popular spots in Malaysia or abroad.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENT
Presentation of the photo blog is up to the individual group (four people) to submit their works in creative manner. Each group will be required to produce the photo
blog which consists of 25 to 30 photos of a particular setting or scene at any ONE location (Bangsar) of your choice. In addition to that, include necessary write-up about 20 to 30 words per picture together with captions to further highlight your story on the blog. The photos should focus on or portray life in the following areas :-
People – ethnic background, gender, age, description of clothes.
Food – types of food available or food presentation at hawker stalls or restaurants.
Activities – kinds of activities found in the surrounding of the suggested location.
Cultural conservation on buildings – Façade, interior and exterior design of the building and ornamentation.

Place Chosen: Bangsar, specifically on Jalan Maarof
A cobbler on the walkway; although the area around Bangsar are known to be filled with wealthy people, it's also common to see people who are willing to do any services, instead of begging for money. These type of cobblers are common because it's cheaper than the ones in shopping malls.
Here you can see a group of middle-aged people lepakking at what seems to be an old, Chinese coffee shop. It's a rare sight, especially in a rapidly developing area like Bangsar.
PEOPLE
A cobbler on the walkway; although the area around Bangsar are known to be filled with wealthy people, it's also common to see people who are willing to do any services, instead of begging for money. These type of cobblers are common because it's cheaper than the ones in shopping malls.
Another example, old men or women selling woven bags and other items are also common in this area. They typically aim for restaurants as large amount of people are gathered there. Actions are taken by certain restaurants, preventing them from coming in.
Here you can see a security guard in somewhat normal clothing and not in uniform holding a shotgun next to a jewellery store. Due to Bangsar being highly populated with different types of people, crime, although rarely heard, are dangerous in this area, as robbers and thieves in this area are known to use weapons, even guns.

Foreigners are common in Bangsar as there are many international schools there. Most foreigners staying there are mostly from the United States and
the United Kingdom,
followed by Middle Eastern people.
