Cultural conservation on buildings
Many houses in Bangsar are converted into shops and restaurants, such as Melinda Looi's boutique on the left. It's cheaper to convert a housing unit to a shop, rather than demolishing and rebuilding it.

The conversion also creates a unique twist, as you can mainly see housing units converted to shop lots in Bangsar and rarely outside of it.
In the picture below, you can see torn & worn out posters and graffitis on an empty street next to a restaurant.
Due to westernisation, different elements, cultures and trends are brought into Bangsar, thus creating something new and surrealistic; mixing something new and artistic with old buildings and empty streets.
